The Beacon Resource Center

  • Homelessness & housing security

Who We Are

The Beacon is a homeless resource center and day shelter where unhoused people can get out of the weather from 12:30 - 3:00 in the afternoon to rest and enjoy a cup of coffee and some human dignity.

Volunteers at The Beacon are required to submit the following clearances:

  1. Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
  2. Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Records Check
  3. FBI Criminal History Background Check

What We Do

We serve coffee and snacks to the unhoused while they come in out of the harsh weather to rest. We have restrooms for them to access and cots for them to nap. We also have a free PO Box for unhoused people who need access to mail services. The Beacon also invites local resources to set up space in our building to work with clients on the ground where they are. We have several different housing resources and medical resources who work with clients every day at the Beacon. The Beacon is also happy to provide a hair cutting service for the unhoused on Thursdays.
