On SpartanGreen 2024, York College volunteers planted rain gardens along the intersections of West Jackson St. These gardens are now more functional in returning rainwater into the ground as well as channeling it into the appropriate channels.
For this opportunity, we are looking for volunteers to weed these rain gardens. The main weeds that need to be removed are the bright green grasses popping up between flowers. There are some ornamental dune grasses and ribbon grasses that are planted intentionally. Below is an image of the grass type that needs to come out.

It is important to remember to get the roots during removal and not just rip the leaves off. Trash can also be removed from the rain gardens and surrounding areas during this opportunity.
