Help the Horn Farm Center winterize our 8-acre riparian buffer while learning about perennial plants, ecology, and ways to restore local waterways!
- Overview: We're seeking volunteers to help us winterize hundreds of trees across our budding riparian buffer. This yearly maintenance work is critical as we reclaim 16 acres of formerly-farmed streamside areas for the revitalization of soil, water, and local habitat. As the young trees that dot our landscape settle into their winter dormancy, now is the time to ensure they're protected and primed for the challenges of the cold-season.
- Date & time: Saturday, October 28th from 9:30am to 11:30am,
- Responsibilities: Volunteers will help us check and right tree tubes, manage invasive, plant last-minute saplings, and fortify tree bases with rocks to prevent vole damage during the winter.
- Transportation: Volunteers MUST be able to provide their own transportation. Carpools will not be arranged, and a shuttle will not be available.
- Supplies: The Community Partner will provide supplies. Volunteers who have their own gloves are encouraged to bring them.
