- About the organization: York Fresh Food Farms Community Gardens started with one garden at 351 Cottage Hill Road in 2017. Project Manager, Annalisa Gojmerac, now manages 4 community gardens in the City of York. two new gardens were added in 2022.
- About the Garden: Church and Court Garden is an urban garden dedicated towards creating an environment to serve the local community. We will grow fresh organic produce, educate communities in urban gardening, and appreciating nature, science and the arts. We also grow a variety of native pollinators in the garden!
- Volunteer responsibilities: This urban garden is currently FULL of native, flowering plants. We are planning to dig up and pot these native plants so that they can be planted at various locations throughout the city. Volunteers may also have opportunities to dig out and turn the garden's compost, do some weeding, and prepare the garden for the winter months.
- Volunteer requirements: Volunteers will be asked to complete a Registration & Release Form at the start of the project. You can review the form here ahead of time.
- Volunteer considerations:
- This is an outdoor community garden. There are no bathrooms on site.
- Wear closed-toed shoes!
- Date & time: Friday, 10/13, from 2pm-5pm (with travel time)
- Supplies provided
- The community partner will provide all supplies that are needed for this project.
- Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gardening gloves if they own any!
- Location & transportation:
- All student volunteers should meet on the YCP Wolf Hall Lawn at the start of this project. They will then head to their project with their team & Team Leader.
- All student volunteers are required to travel by SpartanServe van.
- Van drivers: Gabi Haring, Isabella Ewing
- YCP faculty, staff, and alum are free to drive separately.
- This project will take place at 335 W Court St in York City. It is located right by Our Daily Bread.
