About Keystone Kidspace: Keystone Kidspace is a nonprofit makerspace for kids and their grownups.
Event overview: Every year we celebrate our "birthday" - the anniversary of our opening our doors to begin serving the public - by offering all of our exciting, hands-on activities for free to families across the greater York community. From 10am to 5pm kids and their grownups get to experience all things Keystone Kidspace - on steroids and entirely free of charge - as our thank you for another wonderful year. Last year we welcomed over 600 visitors over 7 hours. It takes a lot of staff and many many volunteers to help our guests make slime and confetti cannons, man the bubble rave room and nerf war, hand out birthday cake and more. We hope you'll join us for a crazy but incredibly rewarding day delighting families and kids of all ages!
Event location: Keystone Kidspace, 10 East Hamilton Avenue, York, PA
Event date and time: This event takes place on Saturday, 10/7, from 9am-6pm. The day is split into 3 overlapping volunteer shifts, and volunteers are invited to sign up for more than one shift! DURING FALL BREAK
Volunteer shift: 11am-3pm (SHIFT 2)
Volunteer responsibilities: Volunteers will help with a variety of tasks, including:
- Visitor support: welcoming visitors & promoting safety
- Administrative support: restocking supplies, counting visitors
- Activity support: bubble rave room, slime making, a nerf battle, making confetti cannons and air cannons, decorating ceramic tiles to be lit on fire, distributing birthday cake, and more!
Volunteer requirements:
- BE COMFORTABLE WITH CROWDS AND A CHAOTIC ENVIRONMENT
- MUST ENJOY WORKING WITH KIDS
- WEAR CLOSED-TOED SHOES
- AVOID OFFENSIVE SLOGANS/IMAGES ON CLOTHING
Volunteer considerations: Things can get messy, so wear comfortable clothing you don't mind getting a bit dirty!
Volunteer transportation: This event is open to volunteers who can provide their own transportation. SVN staff will also work with volunteers to determine whether or not a carpool will be available. If a carpool becomes available, volunteers will be contacted and this listing will be updated.
