Generations of Hope connects YCP college student mentors with local middle-school students from Jackson and McKinley K-8th. YCP college student mentors (called OGs, or Older Generation) lead engaging activities that relate to to life skills, academic success, community engagement, leadership and mentorship, higher education possibilities, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. GOH takes place on West Campus of York College on select Wednesday afternoons from 11:55AM-6:00PM. There are usually 5 sessions per semester, and 10 in an academic year. GOH student mentors do not need to be there the whole time, but they are required to volunteer consistently at least 1 hour every session.
Note: GOH student mentors must submit the following clearances before they begin:
- Volunteer Consent & Release Form
- PA background check (PATCH)
- Child Abuse History clearance
- FBI fingerprint-based background check (does not apply if your home address is in Pennsylvania).
