About York Literacy Institute: The York Literacy Institute provides literacy services to adults of York County. We provide tutoring and classes for GED students, and English as a Second Language Students. Our Next Step Program helps students prepare for employment opportunities.
Volunteer description: As a newly trained tutor, you will be matched with a student to meet weekly for 60-90 minute sessions at a public location. Tutors assist Adult Reading and English as a Second Language students to improve their basic literacy skills by preparing lessons, giving homework, and encouraging their student through the learning process. Tutoring may take place in person or through remote learning.
Getting started:
- All interested volunteer tutors MUST complete the York Literacy Institute Volunteer Form
