We're excited to invite you to join us for a great opportunity to make a visible, lasting impact on the City of York!
We are seeking volunteers to help us plant new trees as part of a fantastic Tree Pennsylvania grant initiative. These trees will help improve our local environment, air quality, and the overall beauty of our city spaces. Last spring we planted 50 new trees in City Parks and next weekend we will be planting 50 more street trees in and around Downtown York.
This event is a collaborative effort between Downtown Inc, Penn State York Master Watershed Stewards, and the City of York Parks and Recreation Department.
Event Details
- What: Community Tree Planting Day
- When: Saturday, November 15th
- Time: 9:00 AM start time
- Where to Meet: York City Parks and Rec. Building (900 Vander Ave, York, PA 17403)
- Volunteers must provide their own transportation for this opportunity. Please contact volunteer@ycp.edu with any questions or concerns.
We will provide all the necessary tools, equipment, and instruction—all you need to bring is a pair of gloves, water, and enthusiasm! We recommend wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty and sturdy shoes.
If you are able to dedicate a few hours of your time to help us green up York, please let Bronley Martin know bmartin@downtownyorkpa.com so we can get a headcount and send out confirmation details prior to the event.

PS If you love trees as much as us, please plan on joining the City of York and the York Rotary Club this FRIDAY at 5 p.m. at the corner of Market and Beaver streets for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the Market Street Tree Replacement Project.
