Drug-Free Youth Coalition

Who We Are

The overarching goal of the DFYC is for every community across York County to have scaffolding that supports healthy, resilient communities, where people want to be present and lead. Through strong community partnerships, the coalition implements evidence-based prevention strategies that strengthen communities, prevent substance abuse, and create a safe environment for young people to thrive. The coalition is in York County, Pennsylvania, at 63 N. Main Street, Suite K, Stewartstown. The coalition aligns with the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program—the nation's leading initiative to mobilize communities to prevent youth substance use (Office of National Drug Control Policy, 2022). The non-profit was founded by Samantha Hammond. The DFC Support program provides vital grants to community coalitions, empowering them to reduce youth substance use at the local level. Established in 1997 by the Drug-Free Communities Act, the DFC Support Program is overseen by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) in partnership with the CDC (Office of National Drug Policy, 2022).

What We Do

The Drug-Free Youth Coalition (DFYC) is a York County nonprofit bringing youth, parents, schools, and community partners together to prevent substance misuse and support mental wellness. We host workshops, leadership summits, and community events so young people can feel safe, heard, and supported.
