The American Veterans Honor & Reflective Remembrance Committee is seeking volunteers to assist with preparation for their large event in October. Prep volunteers would assist in stuffing goodie bags for event attendees and decorating the event space. We will begin the prep work at 10 AM, so as soon as you can arrive, it will be wonderful. I just found out from Wisehaven, we need to be out by noon.

We will be holding our Annual Fall Commemoration Event at Wisehaven Event Center in York. We will be looking for at least 5 volunteers to assist with handing out tickets for raffles, 50-50 raffle, and an auction. Students will be ready to assist with registration of ticket sales, wrist banding the guests and making sure, no food is thrown away by encouraging patrons to pack leftover entrees in the takeout boxes. Wisehaven has a policy of throwing out food after an hr. out. Let's avoid this happening. We need to know if volunteers will need transportation to Wisehaven.

The event runs from 2 - 7 PM on the 11th of October, student participation can vary from 3 to 5 hrs. as you have allotted for your community support. All volunteers will be sitting at the same table and will be able to eat and enjoy the show. The entertainment will begin their setup's at 10:30 to 1:30 PM. Please arrive no later than 1:15 - 1:30.

What to wear & bring

Please dress for the weather, we are rain or shine! Volunteers need to wear long pants, clothes that can get dirty, and close-toed shoes (boots recommended). We also recommend a hat, sunscreen, and gloves if you have them. Please bring water for yourself.

Accessibility

Volunteers should be prepared to walk over uneven ground, bend, stoop, kneel, dig, and do some minor lifting. A planting demonstration will be given at the beginning of the event. Children of all ages are welcome to attend with their guardians. Bathrooms are not available. Please follow all parking directions when arriving.

This planting located in Lewisberry, PA. Upon successful registration for this event, a confirmation email and the exact event address will be sent to the registrant. Reminder emails are also sent approximately 3 days prior to the event and the day of the event via email.

The Pappus House is seeking strolling musicians to provide classical music before the program begins, an interpretive dancer, and an artist to sketch their Lantern of Lights event.

Volunteer at Church and Court Garden during SpartanServe! This garden appears to be a big weedy lot, but in reality it is full of native pollinators and serves the area as a native pollinator sanctuary. Volunteers will be helping prepare the garden for the fall and winter, including trimming older branches and plants, adding to the compost pile, and digging. Volunteers should wear weather appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes. All tools and gloves will be provided. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own gardening gloves. There are no restrooms at this location.

All volunteers must complete the YFFF Community Gardens Volunteer Registration and Release form. If you are unable to complete this wavier beforehand, copies will be available day of.

Volunteer with York County Reentry Coalition for SpartanServe! Volunteers will learn about the Reentry Opportunity Center's operations and the Reentry strategy of York County. Tasks will include deep cleaning and sanitizing the center as well as creating to go kits for those leaving York County Prison. Volunteers will not be exposed to an incarcerated population.

About this Volunteer Opportunity:

We're seeking volunteers to help us tend our newly-planted 10-acre riparian buffer. Hands on the land are critical as we protect water and build back biodiversity on retired farmland without the use of herbicides or large machines. Join us to learn about agroforestry, land restoration, and our watershed while helping us ensure a thriving ecosystem for the future.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

During our Fall 2025 riparian buffer workdays, volunteers will help monitor trees, manage young plantings, prepare soil for new live stake rows, and/or plant saplings. Time and materials allowing, volunteers may also help harvest and process American hazelnuts (Corylus americana).

Volunteer Requirements:

Supplies provided: The Horn Farm Center will provide all supplies that are needed for this project, including work gloves.

York Literacy Institute will hold its annual fundraising event, Heroes & Villains, on Saturday, October 18 at Marketview Arts in York. We are in need of volunteer help with set up and tear down for the event. Seeking a certified volunteer van driver to help transport students downtown to Marketview Arts for First Friday activities. The van would run a continuous loop between the Creek Crossing stop on the main campus and Marketview Arts from 5pm-9pm.

The Military Veterans Advocacy Committee (MVAC) at YCP sponsors flag installation each year on Veterans' Day. MVAC is seeking volunteers to place the flags around main campus. The responsibilities for this opportunity are as follows:

Tuesday, November 11th: Place the flags along the pathways of Main Campus. Volunteers will meet MVAC members at 7:00am at the Fountain on Main Campus to coordinate flag installation.

Monday, November 17th: Collect the flags and return them to Academic Advising or another predetermined office.

Martin Library hosts Santa on the First Friday in December. Last Year we had over 500 guests visit with Santa. While the families are waiting we have stations throughout the Children's Room with crafts and activities for the children and their families. We need help at each craft station, and general 'crowd control".  We want every child to have a memory of visiting Santa at Martin Library and to give their families the opportunity to learn more about the library.

The White Rose Figure Skating Club will be hosting a large skating competition, The Keystone State Games, and we need YOUR help!  This competition gives figure skaters a chance to show off the skills they have learned and compete against other skaters from surrounding areas.  This competition is entirely volunteer run and we can't make it happen, without the help of people like you!  This two day competition begins early Saturday morning (8am) and runs through the evening, ending around 9pm.  The second day begins early, around 8am, and will conclude mid afternoon.  We need volunteers to help with set up and break down, account running, and rink monitoring.  Volunteer training will be held prior to the competition so you will know exactly what to do when you arrive on the day of the competition. 

-Account Runners- This position requires a bit more physical activity.  You will be transporting documentation from the judges in the rink to the accountants upstairs where data will be imported in the computer and copied.  You will be in and out of the cold.

-Rink Monitors- This position will be inside of the rink.  You will be at a check in table where competing skaters will check in before taking the ice.  You will be responsible for keeping track of the schedule and timing and will be communicating with skaters, coaches and the judges.

** Please dress warmly- you will be in an ice rink for extended periods of time. A jacket, gloves and warm shoes are recommended! A hospitality room is available for all volunteers to grab a snack during their shift! Volunteer training will be held prior to the event so you know and understand the responsibilities of an account runner and rink monitor prior to the competition.

The York Area Ice Rink and The White Rose Figure Skating Club are excited to be hosting Adult Sectionals this year!  This large, multi day competition is solely run by volunteers and we need your help!  Volunteers can choose from 4 hour shifts doing either account running, rink monitoring, set up, or break down.  Volunteer training will be held prior to this competition so volunteers know and understand their job.

We are looking for volunteers to be part of the audio visual (AV) ministry at St. Joseph Church.

For this volunteer project, you would run the slides and/or the livestream during one Sunday Mass per month. 

We most need help during our 9 AM Sunday Mass, which is both slides and the livestream. We also do have opportunity during our 5 PM Saturday Vigil Mass, which is slides only on our big screens.

Training will be provided at your convenience with our Communications Professional, as well as instructions shared so you can review.

You don't need to be Catholic to volunteer, but knowledge of the Catholic Mass, or willingness to learn, will be helpful in this role. We do have instructions to help you with the slides if you aren't as familiar.

About Momentum: Momentum is a science-based movement class at the York JCC for those with neuro-cognitive conditions, including Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, Multiple Sclerosis, stroke, brain trauma, and more. Learn more about the Momentum Program at the York JCC here!

Founded in 2015, The Movement of York helps connect people to the resources they seek.

Every Saturday we open our Food Pantry to the public, handing out various food and household items to families in need.

Volunteers are needed on Saturdays from 3-5pm. In addition to signing up in the SVN portal, volunteers must ALSO complete the Movement's Volunteer Signup Form (CLICK HERE) for each shift they're interested in. If the signup form indicates that the shift is full for a particular day, please do not sign up for that shift.  

Volunteers are expected to provide their own transportation for this project. There is parking for volunteers in the parking lot behind The Movement. We recommend you dress for the weather, as some of our families need help carrying their items to their vehicles.

About York Literacy Institute: The York Literacy Institute provides literacy services to adults of York County. We provide tutoring and classes for GED students, and English as a Second Language Students. Our Next Step Program helps students prepare for employment opportunities.

Volunteer description: As a newly trained tutor, you will be matched with a student to meet weekly for 60-90 minute sessions at a public location. Tutors assist Adult Reading and English as a Second Language students to improve their basic literacy skills by preparing lessons, giving homework, and encouraging their student through the learning process. Hours: Harvest of Blessing operates at the following times:

The role of the ES is to provide quality care, handling and maintenance of the OBH herd.

Volunteer(s) in this role will be responsible for the day to day operations pertaining to barn work. Tasks include but are not limited to mucking stalls, feed/turnout, cleaning tack, sweeping/knocking down cobwebs, picking arena/pasture, and general upkeep of the facility. Volunteering in this role is a great way for both new and seasoned horse enthusiasts to spend time working with horses.

Barn shifts are 2-3 hours long, morning and early evening. We have morning and evening shifts.

The York Conference of Lutherans Tutoring Program is seeking volunteer tutors to work one-on-one with students on Monday or Tuesday evenings during the upcoming school year! 

We need people who are willing to assist elementary grade students with homework, read with them, help them learn spelling, math facts, etc. If you like young people and want to make a difference in the life of a young person, then this is for you!!!

Tutors over 18 must apply for clearances, but there is no charge to you as a volunteer.

Overview | PA-MEDI is the State Health Insurance Assistance Program. Trained volunteers provide free, unbiased insurance counseling to people on Medicare, assist with comparing plans, educate, advocate, and make appropriate referrals.

Responsibilities | Duties will be completed at a local counseling site and by phone. York County Senior Centers need volunteers to help deliver and prepare Home Delivered Meals throughout all areas of York County. Meals are currently delivered three days per week on Monday-Wednesday-Friday. The time commitment is flexible from one 3-4 hour shift per month to multiple 3- 4 hour shifts per month.  Drivers are assigned a designated route for delivery. Delivery drivers pick up the meals by 10:00am at local senior centers and deliver meals throughout the area. They check in face-to-face with the older adults at the time of the meal deliveries. Several local centers also need kitchen help preparing and packing the meals.  Volunteers must possess a valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance. Being a full time caregiver is tough. If you or someone you know has recently gone through the process of caring for an elder full time, you know how physically and emotionally straining it can be. Here at Gentiva Hospice, we have volunteers who can help with caregiver relief. This means trained volunteers go out and sit with patients so family members can get out of the house, run errands, and have time to themselves. Gentiva Hospice has an opportunity open to be part of our administrative team! This position involves simple administrative tasks such as, but not limited to: filing, cutting, experience with word, creating simple notes/cards, coming up with creative ideas, and experience with craft projects is a must! Some tasks can be done at home if you have access to a computer and printer. This position will lead the way for special office projects and create involvement throughout the process.
