The Belmont Theatre is seeking hard-working volunteers to help build the set for their next production: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The show opens 12/5 and runs through 12/14. The set will need to be completed prior to opening night, and there is flexibility in scheduling to volunteer.

Experience in theatre or set design is a bonus. Volunteers should know their way around measurements and schematics!

Taking place at 1PM and wrapping up between 3 and 4PM.

Each winter at the Horn Farm Center, we gather in community to harvest basketry willow—a renewable crop grown as part of our regenerative farming and agroforestry demonstrations.

During their dormant season, willows are “coppiced”—cut back to stump level—yielding thousands of long, flexible branches with a range of practical uses. Some are carefully sorted for basketry and other weaving crafts, while others are bundled for erosion control projects or transformed into biochar. From creating locally sourced materials to restoring the land, willows play a vital role in advancing our regenerative vision.

Tasks may include:

Horn Farm's staff will lead this workday and provide guidance. No prior experience required! 

Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, dress for the weather, and bring your own water bottle (refills are available). Participants may use their own work gloves, though we do have gloves on hand for those who need them. All tools and safety gear will be provided.

As the reconstruction of our farmhouse and educational hub continues, be aware that our only restroom facilities are porta-potties. Please plan accordingly. We appreciate your understanding! 

This workday will require moderate physical labor including kneeling, bending, carrying, repetitive hand motions using manual pruners and loppers, and spending time outside in cold temperatures.

In the event of inclement weather, including prohibitively cold conditions, we will postpone this workday and notify you via email. Expect at least 12 hours notice in cases of cancellation.

All Volunteers: please review our Volunteer Waiver and Release Form before your arrival. You will be asked to acknowledge receipt of this waiver when you sign up.

Jackson K-8 is seeking volunteers to support their preK-8 dance on Thursday, February 5th, 2026 from 9:00am-1:00pm. Volunteers do not need to be present for the duration of the event, but should plan to be present for at least two hours. Seeking a certified van driver to transport students downtown for the YCASE Art Walk Kickoff on February First Friday. The van will run on a loop continuously between the main campus and Marketview Arts between 5 and 9 pm.

The Center for Community Engagement is seeking volunteers to be stationed at various venues in downtown York during the YCASE Art Walk First Friday Kickoff on 2/6 and guided tours on 2/7. Volunteers will meet at Marketview Arts to receive instructions and then go to their assigned venue.

Volunteers will help take down the winter decorations at Devers Community Garden.

The White Rose Figure Skating Club will be hosting a large skating competition, The Keystone State Games, and we need YOUR help!  This competition gives figure skaters a chance to show off the skills they have learned and compete against other skaters from surrounding areas.  This competition is entirely volunteer run and we can't make it happen, without the help of people like you!  This two day competition begins early Saturday morning (8am) and runs through the evening, ending around 9pm.  The second day begins early, around 8am, and will conclude mid afternoon.  We need volunteers to help with set up and break down, account running, and rink monitoring.  Volunteer training will be held prior to the competition so you will know exactly what to do when you arrive on the day of the competition. 

-Account Runners- This position requires a bit more physical activity.  You will be transporting documentation from the judges in the rink to the accountants upstairs where data will be imported in the computer and copied.  You will be in and out of the cold.

-Rink Monitors- This position will be inside of the rink.  You will be at a check in table where competing skaters will check in before taking the ice.  You will be responsible for keeping track of the schedule and timing and will be communicating with skaters, coaches and the judges.

** Please dress warmly- you will be in an ice rink for extended periods of time. A jacket, gloves and warm shoes are recommended! A hospitality room is available for all volunteers to grab a snack during their shift! Volunteer training will be held prior to the event so you know and understand the responsibilities of an account runner and rink monitor prior to the competition.

The York Area Ice Rink and The White Rose Figure Skating Club are excited to be hosting Adult Sectionals this year!  This large, multi day competition is solely run by volunteers and we need your help!  Volunteers can choose from 4 hour shifts doing either account running, rink monitoring, set up, or break down.  Volunteer training will be held prior to this competition so volunteers know and understand their job.

Account Runner- Will be transporting documentation from the judges in the rink to the upstairs room for the data to be imported in to computer and copied.  This person will be going in and out of the cold and will walking/climbing stairs frequently.

Rink Monitor- Will be positioned at a table inside of the rink.  You will be responsible for checking in each skater prior to their event and communicating the schedule to the skaters and coaches.  This position is inside of the rink so please dress appropriately!

** Please dress warmly - you will be in an ice rink for extended periods of time. A jacket, gloves, hat and warm shoes are recommended! A hospitality room is available for all volunteers to grab a snack during their shift! Experience the joy of Special Olympics at our Indoor Winter Games on March 7th and 8th! Athletes from across PA will enjoy a weekend of competition in bowling and floorball. Volunteers are needed to help with scorekeeping, score running, lane monitoring and more. No experience needed - we provide training!

We especially need help with bowling, as we are running bowling out of 3 different locations: Laser Alley, Colony Park and Bowlerama. Most volunteer shifts are about 4 hours long; join us for one or both days! Morning shifts at 9:00am-12:30pm and afternoon shifts are 12:30-4:00pm. Please indicate which shift you plan on attending in your response notes.

Join our team for the Bursting Bubble 5K Walk & Run in York, PA on May 3rd, 2026. Volunteers will assist with sponsor outreach, event promotion, participant registration, day-of coordination, setup, and teardown. This is a high-energy, hands-on opportunity to gain experience in event management, marketing, and community engagement while helping raise awareness and funds for families experiencing infertility, pregnancy and infant loss.

We are preparing for our annual Camp Dragonfly program. The Camp is a free weekend camp for grieving children – ages 6 to 15. We are seeking volunteers to help with the Camp. There are multiple, essential volunteer opportunities including assisting with set-up, craft assistant, recreational activities, registration, Adult Buddy to an assigned child, and many more roles.

This volunteer opportunity is the final phase of the Chestnut Street Revitalization Project, where we are rebuilding 14 of the 16 homes that burned down on Chestnut Street in the City of York in 2009. When completed, these four homes will bring our affiliate’s total to 150 homes built since our founding in 1985.

Create "how to" and "info session" videos related to immigrant legal services. The final products are for internal and external use. Some video creation may require visiting the local offices.
