Volunteer: Insurance Counseling for Older Adults (PA MEDI Counselor) - training providedOverview | PA-MEDI is the State Health Insurance Assistance Program. Trained volunteers provide free, unbiased insurance counseling to people on Medicare, assist with comparing plans, educate, advocate, and make appropriate referrals. Responsibilities | Duties will be completed at a local counseling site and by phone. In addition to insurance counseling, volunteers assist with community education and promotional activities, including seminars and other community events. Applicants that have licensure to sell insurance or other financial products will not be eligible to volunteer for this opportunity. Schedule This volunteer opportunity is best suited to those who have a flexible daytime schedule. The monthly time commitment for this opportunity is at least 10-15 hours per month. There is a two year time commitment required due to training requirements. Volunteer: Home Delivered Meal VolunteerYork County Senior Centers need volunteers to help deliver and prepare Home Delivered Meals throughout all areas of York County. Meals are currently delivered three days per week on Monday-Wednesday-Friday. The time commitment is flexible from one 3-4 hour shift per month to multiple 3- 4 hour shifts per month. Drivers are assigned a designated route for delivery. Delivery drivers pick up the meals by 10:00am at local senior centers and deliver meals throughout the area. They check in face-to-face with the older adults at the time of the meal deliveries. Several local centers also need kitchen help preparing and packing the meals. Volunteers must possess a valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance. A criminal background check is required.
