Volunteer: DIGS Reading Partner | Salvation Army York

Overview & responsibilities: The DIGS Reading Partner will support students in grades K-4 in meeting their reading tutoring goals.  These goals are set by the Learning Center Director with assigned tasks for each student which will focus on hands-on/experiential learning.  The DIGS Reading Partner will be assigned specific students to assist.   This may be one-to-one or small group (read alouds).  Training and all materials necessary for completion of tasks are provided.  Volunteer schedule: This is an ongoing (Evergreen) project. Interested volunteers will work with the Salvation Army York to determine a recurring volunteer schedule.  Volunteer requirements & signup Click "Respond" below, so that you are added to our list of YCP volunteers. Overview: STEAM Pods provide hands-on, experiential opportunities to students in grades K-5. Each STEAM Pod is 6-8 weeks in duration, meeting once a week between the hours of 5-8:00 p.m. STEAM runs full year. Examples of STEAM Pods include simple machines, kitchen chemistry, airplanes, optical illusions, basic line drawing, color theory, forensics, and more. Volunteer responsibilities: The STEAM Partner will assist Salvation Army staff in providing hands-on, experiential opportunities to students in grades K-5.
