Opportunities From: Spartan Volunteer Network

Volunteer: SpartanGreen: Church & Court Garden (4/18/2026)

Assist with garden preparation and maintenance at Church & Court Garden during SpartanGreen weekend! Volunteers will be cutting down overgrowth, digging in raised beds that have become overgrown with native plants, and spreading mulch. Church & Court Garden is used to grow native pollinators for plants that are all over York City which are then used for projects by local schools, like William Penn High School. All volunteers must complete YFFF: Community Garden's volunteer waiver before participating in the project. 

When: Saturday, April 18, 2026 12:00-3:00pm | Volunteers are welcome to stay until 5:00pm if they wish! 

Where: Church & Court Garden is located directly behind Our Daily Bread food pantry on South George street. The garden itself is surrounded by big green bushes. The Garden's address is 335 South Court Street and 34 East Church Avenue, York, PA 17405. Volunteers can park in the church parking lot directly opposite the garden. 

Attire: Volunteers should wear their green volunteer t-shirt provided by the Spartan Volunteer Network, closed toe shoes, and clothing that can get dirty. Gardening gloves and materials will be provided.

Assist with garden preparation and maintenance at Cottage Hill Garden during SpartanGreen weekend! Volunteers will be digging up plants, planting new vegetation, and digging out compost bins. Cottage Hill Garden is frequented by local youth who look forward to the opportunity to connect with YCP volunteers! This is your opportunity not only to support a local community garden but mentor local youth as well. All volunteers must complete YFFF: Community Garden's volunteer waiver before participating in the project. There are no bathrooms at this location. 

When: Sunday, April 19, 2026 12:00-3:00pm | Volunteers are welcome to stay until 5:00pm if they wish!

Where: Cottage Hill Garden is located at 351 Cottage Hill Road, York, PA 17401. The garden is located in a residential neighborhood across from the Beaver Street Bridge and across from Williams Park. 

Attire: Volunteers should wear their green volunteer t-shirt provided by the Spartan Volunteer Network, closed toe shoes, and clothing that can get dirty. Gardening gloves and materials will be provided.
