Martin Library opened on Halloween in 1935. Join us as we celebrate the changes and growth of Martin Library over the decades. Help serve literary themed mocktails, hand out treats, keep the library looking its best.

Martin Library is also unveiling a unique piece of Art commissioned for display in our main lobby, framed by an original Martin iconic arched window.

Help is needed throughout the day with registration, wayfinding and assisting staff. The Youth Empowerment Summit is filled with great activities and discussions which help teens write the next page in the story of their lives. Year after year, YES continues to offer a unique opportunity to York County teens. It provides teens a space to freely explore the wide variety of options available to them as they wonder: What’s next for me, and how do I get there? Topics focus on 4 main themes: higher education, career opportunities, community service, and personal health.

Martin Library hosts Santa on the First Friday in December. Last Year we had over 500 guests visit with Santa. While the families are waiting we have stations throughout the Children's Room with crafts and activities for the children and their families. We need help at each craft station, and general 'crowd control".  We want every child to have a memory of visiting Santa at Martin Library and to give their families the opportunity to learn more about the library.

Do you enjoy playing Foosball, Pool, and/or Ping Pong?  Join the Martin Teens Team and help the kids learn the rules and coach them through developing skills to become a better player!  

Working around your schedule, we are looking for up to 4 volunteers to coach the teens for 2 hours a week (1 volunteer per day Mon - Thur) between the hours of 3 - 6 pm.  We are willing to work with your schedule!  Hone your coaching and management skills while playing games that you love!

Thousands of books are checked out across York County Libraries every day and when they are returned there is only1 right location for it to live on our shelves. Are you up to the challenge?

Assistance is needed in our administrative offices (office skill, preparing mailings, sorting items). This would be as needed, sometimes short notice. Please contact Mina (medmondson@yorklibraries.org) if interested. 

Videographer Volunteer - Carry out assigned recording tasks using their phone or cameras. May edit and complete videos to be published with Marketing staff guidance. As needed.

Photographer/Photojournalist Volunteer - Carries out assigned photography tasks using their phone or cameras and transfers raw files to the Marketing Team. If interested, the volunteer may write blog posts and edit selected photos with Marketing staff guidance.
