Volunteer: Volunteer with JCC Momentum Program | support individuals with mobility challenges

About Momentum: Momentum is a science-based movement class at the York JCC for those with neuro-cognitive conditions, including Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, Multiple Sclerosis, stroke, brain trauma, and more. Learn more about the Momentum Program at the York JCC here!

Volunteer responsibilities: The Momentum Program has a dedicated, trained instructor for each class. In general, volunteers will provide support to the instructor and to class participants. Volunteers may be asked to help with one or more of the following responsibilities.

Assist instructor with class set up and tear down. Work with participants that are less mobile to do one on one or small group exercises. If there is a medical emergency follow the instructors plan. Be ready to help participants with movement, when needed. Be supportive and encouraging of participants. 

Volunteer schedule: Volunteers can sign up for one or more shifts that align with their availability. It is preferred for volunteers to participate on a weekly basis. Volunteers should contact Jen Winter (​jwinter@yorkjcc.org), JCC Fitness Director, to confirm their volunteer shift schedule. 

Shifts are available at any of the following times (location: Studio 2 at York JCC): 

Mondays: 2:00 – 3:00 PM Tuesdays: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Wednesdays: 2:00 – 3:00 PM Thursdays: 10:15 – 11:15 AM Fridays: 2:00 – 3:00 PM
