- About Glenn Hope Care Farm: Situated on 43 acres of farmland in the heart of York County, PA, Glenn Hope Care Farm offers on farm activities to veterans and their families, including horticulture therapy, animal husbandry, submersion in nature, hiking, fishing, hunting, camping, agricultural classes and special events.
- About the event: A fishing derby is an organized, large group fishing event. The Glenn Hope Fishing Derby is all about Trout Fishing! The event includes free breakfast and lunch for participants, as well as prizes for various categories.
- Volunteer responsibilities: Volunteers will help to prepare the farm grounds along the river for the big event. This will involve raking, planting flowers, pulling weeds, pulling up brush, and more!
- Volunteer requirements:
- Volunteers must review and complete the Glenn Hope Volunteer Waiver.
- Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
- Supplies provided: Supplies will be provided by the Community Partner.
- Transportation: SVN staff will reach out to volunteers to coordinate a carpool and/or van shuttle, if available. Volunteers may drive themselves. All volunteers for this project are required to complete the SVN transportation waiver, unless they are travelling via a YCP-provided shuttle.
- Arrival instructions: The Team Leader, or a team member designated by the Team Leader, should text the Community Partner (Aimee, 717-891-7797) when the group leaves the YCP campus. An ETA should be included in the text. When the group arrives to Glenn Hope Care Farm, the Community Partner will meet them and provide additional instructions.
