Description

SNAP is partnering with a York College volunteer group on campus to hold a Bone Marrow Registry on campus for students, staff and faculty. This event is run through NMDP which is the National Marrow Donor Program. Every 3-4 minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukemia or lymphoma. It can happen to anyone, at any time. But so can a cure. NMDP connects patients with a matching donor for a life-saving blood stem cell transplant.

At the registry event, students who are interested will register on their phone by answering a few questions about their medical history, then swab their cheeks and turn in their kit to the students at the table! Swabbing does not mean that you will be matched but that you will be put on a list of potential donors. For more information about NMDP or the matching process, visit Donate Marrow or Blood Stem Cells | Be The Match

The event will be held on Friday April 5th from 10-1 in the Student Union building. If you are interested in helping table the event, please sign up on the attached document! If you would like to join the registry to have the chance to save a life, stop by our table on April 5th!
