Who We Are

The Salvation Army is a community church in downtown York. As a lively Christian fellowship, we seek to serve Jesus Christ and to provide every member of our congregation with opportunities for worship, fellowship and service.

We like to describe ourselves as "a church that cares" not just for our members and those who worship with us on Sunday, but for anyone in our community who has a need that we can meet.

What We Do

We are concerned about our neighborhood and those who are neglected and marginalized by society. Our Family Services Center is open daily to help address the needs of our community.  The needs addressed range from basic food, clothing and shelter to those with spiritual and emotional needs.

Keeping children safe and secure is a priority for us. Our After-school program is open to children from Monday-Friday 3:00-8:00 p.m. We provide a Community Center that offers recreational activities including crafts, organized sports, group activities and a Learning Center that offers nightly homework assistance, a DIGS reading tutoring program and a STEAM program.
